The Cambodian Self Help Demining Group members (CSHD) found these cluster bomb bomblets in the field they were clearing in Kompong Tom Province. These are bomblets which would be packed 2 to several hundred into a larger munition and then dropped from an airplane rather than buried in the ground as landmines were. Although Laos was very, very heavily bombed with these munition types, Cambodians saw over some 80,000 cluster munitions containing 26 million submunitions dropped on them in the 1960s and 1970s. The outer container would open as it propelled to the ground and the bomblets would scatter and explode over an area of about two football fields. Keep in mind that only 70~80% successfully detonated. Thus millions of unexploded pieces still remain today!

This is what we do!
