EOD#3  Mortar 60 mm HE Type 27 China x 1 Safe To Move

Sen Chey Sra aem Choam khsant Preah Vihear

How did this mortar round find its way into the middle of the top of a cut tree stump deep in the jungle of Cambodia? The answer is almost as mysterious as the total number of ordnance left in such hiding places which could explode should they not be found and cleared as this one was!

PLEASE help keep these guys in the field.

No one else is gonna do it….

Risks in the Minefields – Awaiting Photos

Ordnance by itself is not the only dangerous thing a deminer might find as they spend their days clearing landmines and other ordnance. They might also come across other living things as they work along. Snakes (as well as bothersome, biting insects) consider the area home and pose problems for the workers.

Out in the Minefield – This is what they find!

These pictures were sent in from the CSHD team out in the field. They work in an area where there are known to be ordnance items as determined by the government’s demining authority. They will spend 25 days in the field, working very slowly, 1 square meter at a time. (The EOD teams work on random sites when notified by local authorities.)

As they collect the objects they are put into the holding pit. The video shows the items from the last photo being blown up. When that time comes, everyone must be 150-250 meters away. In the video you can see how the pieces fly!

Please help us keep these guys in the field! We will lose a big chunk of our funding at the end of this year. We need to start working to replace it now.

This stuff is going to be removed by you and I.
No one else is gonna do it.

Minefield Finds

These are the types of objects/ordnance found as the CSHD team works their way through the known minefield. Here you can see how easily these dangerous objects blend into their hiding places where they have been concealed for 30 to 40 years!
